N\u00e4r\u00a0den nu\u00a0trettiotre\u00e5riga\u00a0singer-songrwritern fem \u00e5r efter debuten\u00a0f\u00f6ljer upp 2012 \u00e5rs <a href=\"http:\/\/kulturbloggen.com\/?p=47887\"><em>Tramp<\/em><\/a>\u00a0&#8212; albumet som med hj\u00e4lp av\u00a0The National-medlemmen Aaron Dessners produktion definitivt cementerade hennes n\u00e4rvaro i Brooklyns indiekretsar &#8212; med sitt fj\u00e4rde, hittills mest inlevelsefulla och variationsrika album, lyder l\u00e5ttitlarna bland annat:\u00a0<em>I Love You But I&#8217;m Lost; Break Me;\u00a0<\/em>och <em>Your Love is Killing Me<\/em>. &#8221;You love me as you torture me&#8221; sjunger hon,\u00a0talande\u00a0nog, p\u00e5 sistn\u00e4mnda sp\u00e5ret.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8211; Flera av l\u00e5tarna handlar om sv\u00e5ra val, f\u00f6rv\u00e4ntan och uppl\u00f6sning. Hon sjunger om beg\u00e4r, minnen, att vara vilsen, tomhet, om l\u00f6ften och lojalitet, r\u00e4dsla och f\u00f6r\u00e4ndring, om\u00a0l\u00e4kning och det sanna jaget, v\u00e5ld och frist\u00e4der, v\u00e4ntan, om tystnad<\/em>, skriver hennes skivbolag Jagjaguwar p\u00e5 sin hemsida. Sharon Van Etten \u00e4r knappast en artist som\u00a0r\u00e4ds att ta upp tunga och komplexa \u00e4mnen, \u00e4nd\u00e5 k\u00e4nns det &#8212; n\u00e4r musiken klingar ut &#8212; paradoxalt nog ofta som att du l\u00e4mnas kvar med en gnutta hopp. Redan \u00f6ppningssp\u00e5ret <em>Afraid of Nothing<\/em>\u00a0visar p\u00e5 detta yin och yang av uppgivenhet och triumf som annars\u00a0\u00e5terfinns i just l\u00e5ngvariga relationer eller romantiska filmer. Man beh\u00f6ver inte l\u00e4sa intervjuer f\u00f6r att k\u00e4nna autenticiteten\u00a0i Van Ettens r\u00f6st.<\/p>\n<p>Sedan 2012 \u00e5rs <em>Tramp\u00a0<\/em>har det h\u00e4nt en del, och det f\u00f6rsta som sl\u00e5r mig n\u00e4r jag h\u00f6r <em>Are We There<\/em> \u00e4r den relativa avsaknaden av gitarrer. Ist\u00e4llet f\u00e5r pianopartier, synthar eller\u00a0&#8212; som \u00e4r fallet i <em>Tarifa,\u00a0<\/em>en l\u00e5t hon skrev p\u00e5 semester i Spanien &#8212; bl\u00e5s ta plats. Det g\u00f6r\u00a0<em>Are We There<\/em> till ett rikare och mer varierat album \u00e4n f\u00f6reg\u00e5ngarna, samtidigt som de stora k\u00e4nslorna alltid f\u00f6rblir i fokus. Inte en l\u00e5t tappar fokus eller k\u00e4nns som en transportstr\u00e4cka. Avslutande <em>Every Time the Sun Comes Up<\/em>\u00a0inneh\u00e5ller den redan klassiska textraden &#8221;I washed your dishes, but I shit in your bathroom&#8221;; l\u00e5ten \u00e4r b\u00e5de m\u00f6rk, har glimten i \u00f6gat, och \u00e4r ett exempel p\u00e5 n\u00e5got\u00a0hon kanske inte hade kunnat till\u00e5ta sig sj\u00e4lv att skriva tidigare.
