Naomi Yang fr\u00e5n Galaxie 500 har regisserat musikvideon till Drive<\/em>\u00a0— \u00f6ppningssp\u00e5ret fr\u00e5n den Boston-baserade folks\u00e5ngerskan Marissa Nadlers senaste album July<\/em>. Musikvideon h\u00e4mtar bland annat inspiration fr\u00e5n Bernard Faucons konst. S\u00e5 h\u00e4r kommenterar Naomi Yang sj\u00e4lv musikvideon:<\/p>\n

”As a musician I immediately connected to the emotional content of this song\u2014especially as it starts with the very powerful first verse chronicling a discouraging night on the road: ’If you ain\u2019t made it now\/ You\u2019re never going to make it\/ Seventeen people in the dark tonight.’<\/em><\/p>\n

The video tells the story of Marissa facing her own ambition\u2014as well as her disappointments\u2014but ultimately of her desire to reach people through her music. It\u2019s presented as a series of metaphors, or a surreal dream, but one in which Marissa is an active participant in her future (not a passive witness) as she explores her feelings about making music.<\/em><\/p>\n

Running through the song is the refrain ’Nothing like the way it feels to drive,’ which made me think of the French artist Bernard Faucon, whose recent work is shot entirely from the front seat of a car as he travels all over the world. Bernard graciously allowed me to use excerpts of his footage\u2014as he put it, ’Yes, you can use my roads, they fit so well with Marissa\u2019s song…'”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
