De \u00f6vriga l\u00e5tarna p\u00e5 hennes <em>Ghost EP<\/em> var dock av r\u00e4tt brokig karakt\u00e4r (och kvalitet); titelsp\u00e5ret\u00a0<em>Ghost<\/em> \u00e4r exempelvis hennes alt-countryl\u00e5t\u00a0medan <em>Red Lips<\/em>, som skrevs tillsammans med Shirley Manson, drar uppenbara paralleller till Garbage. Antagligen s\u00f6kte hon fortfarande efter ett mer konsekvent konstn\u00e4rligt uttryck.<\/p>\n<p>Nyss fyllda tjugoett tycks Sky Ferreira under n\u00e4stan halva sitt liv ha\u00a0jobbat mot just sl\u00e4ppet av sin full\u00e4ngdsdebut. Men sedan hon sajnades som ton\u00e5ring &#8212; och f\u00f6rs\u00e5gs med l\u00e5tar som\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OLzyJ_jkOg8\"><em>One<\/em><\/a> och <em>Obsession<\/em>\u00a0&#8212; har hon k\u00e4mpat mot den bild som &#8221;the next big thing&#8221; skivbolag f\u00f6rs\u00f6kt ramma in henne med. F\u00f6r bara n\u00e5gon m\u00e5nad sedan arresterades hon, tillsammans med pojkv\u00e4nnen Zachary Cole Smith fr\u00e5n Diiv, f\u00f6r innehav av ecstasy och heroin. En historia som m\u00f6jligtvis skulle kunna ha \u00f6verskuggat albumsl\u00e4ppet, men tillsammans med producenten Ariel Rechtshaid &#8212; som tidigare jobbat med bland annat Charli XCX &#8212; har hon tagit fram ett av \u00e5rets klarast lysande popalbum.<\/p>\n<p>Varenda l\u00e5t k\u00e4nns som en potentiell hit. Fr\u00e5n \u00f6ppningssp\u00e5ret <em>Boys<\/em>, som till viss del s\u00e4tter tonen p\u00e5 albumet med sitt effektiva synthbaserade sound, till\u00a0euforiska <em>24 Hours<\/em>\u00a0som med textraden &#8221;I wish these 24 hours would never end&#8221; antagligen kommer s\u00e4tta brand p\u00e5 m\u00e5nga dansgolv under vintern.\u00a090-talsdoftande <em>I Blame Myself<\/em>, albumets mest direkta \u00f6gonblick, f\u00f6r sedan tankarna till en Madonna med hipster-cred medan klubbiga singeln <em>You&#8217;re Not the One<\/em>, ytterligare en h\u00f6jdpunkt, byggs upp av ett bed\u00e5rande gitarr-riff.\u00a0P\u00e5 <em>Omanko<\/em> (som f\u00f6r \u00f6vrigt \u00e4r japanskt slang f\u00f6r kvinnligt underliv) h\u00e4mtas inspiration fr\u00e5n Suicide &#8212; vilket kanske f\u00f6rklarar dess experimentella sound &#8212; och\u00a0p\u00e5 avslutande titelsp\u00e5ret lyckas hon med dess \u00f6desm\u00e4ttade anslag dessutom mantla rollen som Cat Power-imitat\u00f6r med relativt bra resultat.
