Utifr\u00e5n sett var anledningarna till en b\u00f6rjan oklara. Det var f\u00f6rst f\u00f6r n\u00e5gon m\u00e5nad sedan som Christopher Owens i intervjuer b\u00f6rjade tala om sin besvikelse \u00f6ver den st\u00e4ndiga rotationen av bandmedlemmar. Han ville spela i ett band som kunde v\u00e4xa tillsammans, men n\u00e4r Girls hade avverkat tjugoen bandmedlemmar inom loppet av n\u00e5gra \u00e5r gick droppen.\u00a0S\u00e5 h\u00e4r s\u00e4ger han till exempel i en intervju med <a href=\"http:\/\/pitchfork.com\/features\/interviews\/9007-chris-owens\/\">Pitchfork<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8221;After a little while, I started to realize that the band wasn&#8217;t going to last forever. Because I wanted a real band&#8211; a group of people that became like a family that wrote and recorded and went on tour together, and evolved through those experiences. Nothing else would have done it for me. But we were replacing members for every other tour; I didn&#8217;t feel like I had other people who were maturing along side me. I counted out the amount of people that were in the band over the years. It was 21&#8211; a giant amount of people. That&#8217;s feeling disappointed 21 times over.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Samtidigt f\u00e5r vi inte gl\u00f6mma att det var Christopher Owens som skrev alla l\u00e5tarna i Girls, s\u00e5 hans f\u00f6rsta soloalbum \u00e4r en naturlig forts\u00e4ttning p\u00e5 2011 \u00e5rs <em>Father, Son, Holy Ghost<\/em>. Vissa av l\u00e5tarna p\u00e5 <em>Lysandre<\/em> spelades faktiskt live redan innan <em>Father, Son, Holy Ghost<\/em>\u00a0ens hade sl\u00e4ppts!<\/p>\n<p>Fast n\u00e5gonting har f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrats. Arrangemangen \u00e4r lite mer proggiga och med nyfunnen kreativ frihet ber\u00e4ttar Owens en om m\u00f6jligt \u00e4nnu mer personlig historia \u00e4n vad vi \u00e4r vana vid. <em>Lysandre<\/em> \u00e4r ett konceptalbum d\u00e4r s\u00e5ngerna g\u00e5r i alla krossade hj\u00e4rtans tonart.\u00a0En knappt halvtimmesl\u00e5ng k\u00e4rlekshistoria d\u00e4r l\u00e5tarna l\u00e4nkas samman av en \u00e5terkommande melodislinga (<em>Lysandre&#8217;s Theme<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><em>Lysandre<\/em> \u00e4r \u00e4ven namnet p\u00e5 en fransyska Christopher Owens f\u00f6r\u00e4lskade sig i under Girls f\u00f6rsta turn\u00e9. Hela albumet kretsar kring henne och deras transatlantiska k\u00e4rleksf\u00f6rh\u00e5llande som p\u00e5 grund av avst\u00e5ndet \u00e4nda fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan var d\u00f6mt att misslyckas. Det \u00e4r kanske inte s\u00e5 romantiskt som det skulle kunna ha varit, men Christopher Owens har hunnit utveckla en lika signerad som sj\u00e4lv\u00f6mkande ber\u00e4ttarr\u00f6st. P\u00e5 n\u00e5got s\u00e4tt intresserar vi oss av hans liv, oavsett om det handlar om uppv\u00e4xten inom Children of God eller en tjej fr\u00e5n Frankrike.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c4ven om l\u00e5tarna p\u00e5 s\u00e4tt och vis g\u00e5r in i varandra s\u00e5 bjuds det p\u00e5 m\u00e5nga utflykter.\u00a0<em>Here We Go<\/em> \u00e4r en \u00f6msint och n\u00e4rg\u00e5ngen k\u00e4rlekss\u00e5ng med Robin Hood-fl\u00f6jt och den briljanta\u00a0refr\u00e4ngen <em>&#8221;If your heart is broken, you will find fellowship with me \/ And if your ears are open, you will hear honesty from me&#8221;<\/em>.\u00a0Efterf\u00f6ljande <em>New York City<\/em> \u00e4r den h\u00e4r skivans svar p\u00e5\u00a0<em>Lust for Life<\/em> eller <em>Honey Bunny. <\/em>Fartfyllt och vid\u00f6gt ber\u00e4ttas historien om bandets f\u00f6rsta visit i New York. L\u00e5ten drivs fram av en saxofon medan texten g\u00e5r ifr\u00e5n\u00a0&#8221;<em>Texas, cops and cooking drugs&#8221;<\/em> till &#8221;<em>Rock&#8217;n&#8217;roll in New York City&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e5gra andra exempel p\u00e5 albumets variation \u00e4r <em>Riviera Rock\u00a0<\/em>som med sina solst\u00e4nkta reggae-influenser\u00a0kanske \u00e4r den mest utstickande l\u00e5ten p\u00e5 hela skivan. I efterf\u00f6ljande <em>Love is in the Ear of the Listener<\/em> ifr\u00e5gas\u00e4tter Christopher Owens sin f\u00f6rm\u00e5ga att skriva l\u00e5tar &#8211; uppbackat av en Hawaii-vibrerande slide guitar.\u00a0Mina favoritsp\u00e5r p\u00e5 <em>Lysandre<\/em> \u00e4r dock titelsp\u00e5ret samt epilogen <em>Part of Me &#8211; <\/em>en folkl\u00e5t som skulle kunna ha varit skriven av Bob Dylan d\u00e4r Owens s\u00e5 enkelt sammanfattar allt vad skivan handlar om: <em>&#8221;Oh, you were a part of me \/ But that part of me is gone<\/em>&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Ur Girls aska v\u00e4xte n\u00e5gonting fint fram.\u00a0<em>Lysandre<\/em> kanske \u00e4r en mellanstr\u00e4cka &#8211; en v\u00e4ldigt charmig s\u00e5dan &#8211; men Christopher Owens har \u00e4nnu bara p\u00e5b\u00f6rjat sin historia.
