Men p\u00e5 <em>Sun<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0hennes nionde full\u00e4ngdare &#8211; \u00e4r den l\u00e5gm\u00e4lda gitarrbluesen inte riktigt att k\u00e4nna igen. Ist\u00e4llet tar hon ett v\u00e5gat kliv i en mer elektronisk och eklektisk riktning.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sun<\/em> \u00e4r hennes f\u00f6rsta skiva best\u00e5ende av nyskrivet material sedan <em>The Greatest<\/em> fr\u00e5n 2006. Chan Marshall har skrivit, spelat in och producerat skivan p\u00e5 egen hand.\u00a0Enda hj\u00e4lpen utifr\u00e5n har kommit fr\u00e5n franska\u00a0house-producenten Philippe Zdar som har st\u00e5tt f\u00f6r mixningen samt Iggy Pop som bidrar med s\u00e5ng p\u00e5 skivans l\u00e4ngsta och i mitt tycke b\u00e4sta sp\u00e5r\u00a0<em>Nothin But Time.<\/em>\u00a0Tillsammans sjunger de &#8221;it&#8217;s up to you to be a superhero, it&#8217;s up to you to be like nobody&#8221; \u00f6ver en repetitiv melodi som f\u00f6r tankarna till David Bowies <em>Heroes<\/em>. N\u00e5got annorlunda fr\u00e5n tong\u00e5ngarna p\u00e5 de soulst\u00e4nkta sorges\u00e5ngerna som utg\u00f6r\u00a0<em>The<\/em> <em>Greatest<\/em>, men p\u00e5 de sex \u00e5r som passerat har Marshall hunnit bli s\u00e5v\u00e4l bakrutt som inlagd p\u00e5 sjukhus.\u00a0Kanske har just den raden fungerat som ett mantra n\u00e4r hon i sin hemmastudio i Malibu suttit i sin ensamhet och kn\u00e5pat ihop detta djupg\u00e5ende och detaljrika album som v\u00e4xer f\u00f6r varje lyssning.<\/p>\n<p>Skivans \u00f6ppningssp\u00e5r\u00a0<em>Cherokee <\/em>b\u00f6rjar med en trumvirvel och en atmosf\u00e4risk The Cure-gitarrslinga\u00a0innan ett m\u00f6rkare pianoparti kommer in. Som om det vore en sj\u00e4lvklarhet bek\u00e4nner Chan Marshall med Cubase-redigerad r\u00f6st sedan sin sm\u00e4rta\u00a0med textraden &#8221;never knew pain like this &#8211; everything dies&#8221;. \u00c4nd\u00e5 finns det n\u00e5got gl\u00e4djefyllt, n\u00e4stan livshyllande i hennes uttryck.\u00a0Denna nya elektroniska riktning blir \u00e4nnu mer framtr\u00e4dande p\u00e5 titelsp\u00e5ret <em>Sun\u00a0<\/em>medan efterf\u00f6ljande\u00a0<em>Ruin<\/em> \u00e4r skivans rakaste och mest catchy \u00f6gonblick.<\/p>\n<p>Lika fascinerande som n\u00e5gonsin \u00e4r Chan Marshall i likhet med PJ Harvey en artist som snart tjugo \u00e5r in i sin karri\u00e4r forts\u00e4tter att \u00f6verraska. P\u00e5 <em>Sun<\/em> vet man aldrig riktigt vart l\u00e5tarna ska ta v\u00e4gen.\u00a0Om du vill ha n\u00e5got att krypa under filten till i h\u00f6stm\u00f6rkret \u00e4r vanliga gamla Cat Power kanske att f\u00f6redra, men p\u00e5 de flesta andra punkter \u00f6vertr\u00e4ffar hon faktiskt sig sj\u00e4lv.\u00a0<em>Sun<\/em> tillh\u00f6r 2012 \u00e5rs snyggaste och &#8211; sett till helheten &#8211; b\u00e4sta album.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e4sta sp\u00e5r: Cherokee, Ruin, Nothin But Time<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_nl3Oo4-IQ4\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Artist: Cat Power Titel: Sun Betyg: 5 Melankoli \u00e4r ett ord som ofta f\u00f6rknippas med Chan Marshall och hennes musikaliska projekt Cat Power.
