Konstigt att inte fler hade valt att dyka upp. <em>Smoke Ring for My Halo<\/em> tillh\u00f6rde \u00e4nd\u00e5 fjol\u00e5rets mest kritikerrosade album.<\/p>\n<p>Ena foten st\u00e5r stadigt placerad i den amerikanska folksj\u00e4len. Det \u00e4r ingen slump att Philadelphia-sonen Kurt Vile j\u00e4mf\u00f6rts med s\u00e5v\u00e4l Bruce Springsteen som Tom Petty. Men det g\u00e5r \u00e4ven att dra paralleller till lite mer atmosf\u00e4risk alternativrock, vilket vi kanske har den 6-str\u00e4ngade basen och den 12-str\u00e4ngade Vox-gitarren att tacka.<\/p>\n<p>Inledningen med <em>Jesus Fever<\/em> och <em>On Tour<\/em>, fr\u00e5n senaste skivan, \u00e4r fl\u00e4ckfri medan efterf\u00f6ljande <em>Freeway<\/em> visserligen har bra drag men tyv\u00e4rr pr\u00e4glas av den r\u00e4tt dova ljudinst\u00e4llningen. N\u00e5got som medf\u00f6r att det psykedeliska skimret inte riktigt kommer till sin r\u00e4tt, vilket d\u00e4remot manglet i l\u00e5tar som <em>Freak Train<\/em> g\u00f6r. Avslutningen \u00e4r mer nedst\u00e4md n\u00e4r Kurt Vile, ensam med akustisk gitarr, framf\u00f6r <em>Peeping Tomboy<\/em> och <em>Blackberry Song<\/em>. Kanske g\u00f6r Kurt Vile det b\u00e4sta av situationen. Det \u00e4r ju trots allt en festivalspelning, med allt det inneb\u00e4r. Men j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med den intima (och \u00f6verfulla) spelningen p\u00e5 Strand ett \u00e5r tidigare k\u00e4nns det som han faller till korta. Dessutom saknar jag ett par l\u00e5tar.
