News of the blockage surfaced first in a discussion on <a href=\"http:\/\/discussions.apple.com\/thread.jspa?messageID=7897537\"><span style=\"color: #058b7b;\">Apple&#8217;s site<\/span><\/a>, and later in a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.studentsforafreetibet.org\/2008\/08\/19\/china-blocks-itunes-for-tibet-album\"><span style=\"color: #058b7b;\">blog by F.X. Leach<\/span><\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/freetibet2008.org\/\"><span style=\"color: #058b7b;\">Students for a Free Tibet&#8217;s website<\/span><\/a> but as yet there is no official comment on why Itunes got the cyber-shaft by the Great Firewall of China.<\/p>\n<p>But a hint maybe? A few hours before the blockage, news surfaced Tuesday about <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artofpeacefoundation.org\/\"><span style=\"color: #058b7b;\">Songs for Tibet<\/span><\/a><\/em>, a compilation CD put out by the Art of Peace Foundation. The group and iTunes offered free downloads for Olympic athletes and apparently 40 Olympiads took them up on the offer, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bangkokpost.com\/sportsplus\/sportsplus.php?id=129762\"><span style=\"color: #058b7b;\">coverage<\/span><\/a> of this likely prompted the block.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Att Kina censurerar Internet och sk\u00e4rpt den censuren under OS har det rapporterats om.
